Actually, I nicknamed this ride as the Prodigal Son's ride. I haven't been to Batangas City in years. I think the last time I was there was for the EBD mountain bike marathon. After that, I've always avoided going back and opted to ride somewhere in Manila instead.
Well, that ended yesterday.
A few weeks ago, I sent out a message to two of my closest riding buddies there on Facebook and invited them for a nice leisurely ride. I told them to take me to an offroad trail rather than an asphalted road, if possible.
At 4:45 in the morning yesterday, I loaded my bike and gear in the car and drove to Batangas City. the drive was nice and fast except for the usual traffic-prone spots (i.e., tollgate exit and the Turbina-Sto. Tomas highway).
It was actually my first time to try out the STAR tollway stretch from Lipa to Batangas City. Before, I had to exit in Lipa and take the national highway to Batangas City.
I met the boys at SM City Batangas. From there, they took me to a nearby trail network. It was nothing like La Mesa, but still I'm surprised that they had this area all along.
From Pallocan, we ended up in a Mahogany plantation in San Isidro before heading back to the city.
The ride finished with the usual freshly cooked pancit and fried rice from Crossroads.
Wanna try it this out? Check out the map of the ride here:
