It seems the shit just ht the fan in the latest VeloNews interview of recently crowned Vuelta a España champion Alberto Contador. From saying that he'd be the "first to welcome to seven-time Tour de France champ", Contador is now singing a different tune.
When asked how he would feel if Armstrong joined Astana, he replied: "It would be quite complicated. I think I've earned the right to be the leader of a team without having to fight for it. And with Armstrong, there could be difficult situations in which the team would put him first and that would harm me."
Well apparently it doesn't stop there. We all thought that all is happy at team Astana after the Vuelta with Contador taking the top spot and Leipheimer in second.
The newly-crowned champ has this to say: "I will only say that it’s not normal that someone that is supposed to be working for you finishes less than one minute back in the GC. If Navacerrada had been 20km more, I don’t know what would have happened."
We all saw Levi doing the final pacemaking up the Angliru to launch Contador, but the Spaniard brushed it off and said that Leipheimer "only pulled a little."
Oooooooooh!
I think something's going to happen with this team very, very soon.
